Product description
It is quite common for this oil pressure switch to be the cause of a small oil leak. If the switch no longer works properly, you will not be warned about low oil pressure, which may result in serious engine damage.
Therefore, regularly check that the system is functioning correctly. If the warning light does not illuminate when the ignition is switched on, the switch is most likely defective and should be replaced. Once the engine is running, the warning light should go out. If it remains on, this may indicate low oil pressure. In that case, switch off the engine immediately and investigate the cause.
Additional information: On later WBX engines and all diesel engines, two switches are fitted which each switch at a different pressure. This system is part of Volkswagen’s so-called dynamic oil pressure monitoring system. Its purpose is to monitor oil pressure more accurately at different engine speeds. To make the difference clear, each switch has its own color, provided the old switch is still original. Always compare the switch color with the color indication in the specifications, especially when two options are listed. These switches do not have a tapered thread and seal by means of a sealing ring.
