The 1600cc Type 3 engine is originally equipped with Solex 32-PDSIT carburetors. The Type 4 engine uses a similar system with Solex 34-PDSIT carburetors, which were later modified and became known as the 32-34 PDSIT.
The replacement carburetor offered here has been developed as a universal replacement for both applications and is therefore designated as a 32/34 PDSI. These carburetors are not interchangeable between the left and right sides. Pay close attention to the model designation: the last digit indicates the mounting side. A version ending in 2 is for the left-hand side, while a version ending in 3 is for the right-hand side.
Note for replacing the original Solex carburetors on Type 4 engines
When replacing the original Solex carburetors on a Type 4 engine, only the vacuum hose to the distributor remains in use. All other vacuum connections become redundant and must be properly sealed to prevent vacuum leaks. This can easily be done by inserting a suitable bolt into the end of the hose and securing it with a hose clamp. The original electromagnetic idle cut-off valves are also no longer required. These carburetors are designed to operate perfectly without them. In addition, the throttle linkage system must be modified. In most cases, parts of the original throttle operating levers from the old carburetors must be transferred and adapted.
Note for replacing the original Solex carburetors on Type 3 engines
When installing this carburetor on a Type 3 engine, the original air filter housing can no longer be used. In that case, a suitable performance air filter must be installed. Suitable air filters can be found under the "Options" tab.
