Product description
The 1600cc Type 3 engine was fitted with a Solex 32-PDSIT carburetor as standard. The Type 4 engine used a similar model, the 34-PDSIT, which was later modified and renamed 32-34 PDSIT.
The replacement carburetor mentioned here was made for both cars, and people now use the designation 32/34 PDSI. These carburetors are not interchangeable between left and right, so there is a left and a right variant, recognizable by the number following the type designation (2 means left and 3 means right).
Note on replacing the original Solex on Type 4 engines
When replacing the original Solex on a Type 4 engine, only the vacuum hose to the power distributor is retained. All other vacuum hoses are removed and can be easily sealed, for example by screwing a bolt to the end of the hose and securing it with a hose clamp. Electromagnetic shut-off valves are not necessary either, as these carburetors are designed to operate without them.
Note on replacing the original Solex on Type 3 engines
When the carburettor is fitted to a Type 3 engine, the original air filter is no longer suitable. In this case, a sport air filter must be installed. This can be found under the "Options" tab.
