Product description
The rubber around the shifter is not just for a neat finish, the main reason is to protect the shifting mechanism from dust and other dirt. If you don't do it for looks, always replace the rubber if it is torn, so your shifting mechanism stays clean and doesn't contaminate the grease.
Installation is done in a few minutes: unscrew the gear knob, remove the worn rubber and put the new rubber back on.
