The gear selector moves with a plastic ball bowl (also called a half ball) in a plastic bearing shell. These are the most wear-sensitive parts of the shifter, a worn ball bowl or bearing shell results in excessive play which does not make shifting more enjoyable. So before looking for the cause in the gearbox or the shifting mechanism under the car, take a look at your shifter and check the condition of these plastic bearing shells and the ball bowl, among other things. Should other parts need replacing, consider a repair kit to overhaul your gearshift.

Gearshift lever repair set
A preventive solution for all gearshift problems is to purchase this repair set, with which you replace all possible parts that are subject to wear. After the revision you will experience a world of difference with a gearlever that can find the right gear without play.
