Product description
The oil filler can only be removed with the appropriate tools (see 'related parts' tab). If you've tried to do it without the right tools, that's probably why you're now looking for a new oil filler. There are basically two models: the one with the crankcase vent outlet tube (which comes out under the engine sheet metal), and the model that was used later, when this tube was no longer needed.
Oil filler with drain hose
The oil filler with drain hose is identical to the original model for engines listed under application. Is your engine not listed, but equipped with a drain hose? If so, you can still use this oil filler. Only the shape of the exhaust pipe differs slightly from the original, without any functional consequences. Because the eye also wants something, this air intake is available in original black and in a fully chromed version. The chrome-plated version comes with a chrome-plated plug; for the black version, you need to order the plug separately (see "options" tab) or transfer it from your old oil inlet.
Chrome-plated oil filler without drain hose
The chrome-plated oil filler without drain hose is similar in shape to the chrome-plated model above, but without the drain hose. This variant is often fitted for a "clean look". Volkswagen later eliminated the drain tube itself. So this model may still be suitable, but beware: the connection for the crankcase ventilation hose is much narrower on this model than on the original. If you fit a sport air filter, there's no problem: it uses a 13 mm hose, as does this air intake. However, if you use the original plastic filter housing, the hose no longer fits without an adapter. In other words, this model is suitable for almost all engines, provided you take into account the type of air filter.
Black oil filler without drain hose
The black oil filler without drain hose is a perfect reproduction of the original model. It has the correct diameter for the crankcase ventilation pipe and can therefore be used with the original air filter. If you want to keep the engine 100% original and it belongs to the years of construction mentioned, this is the right choice. This version is supplied without a cap; order it separately if required (see 'Options' tab).
