Volkswagen Buses designed for passenger transport are fitted with vent windows to provide passengers with additional ventilation when outside temperatures rise. On the more basic versions, the frame around the vent window is painted black, while the more luxurious versions are fitted with a chrome-plated frame.
Vent windows were also used on pick-ups with an extended cab, also known as a double cab or crew cab. From the factory, these were only available in the standard version with a black-painted frame, without chrome.
The existing vent window can be restored, with all worn or damaged parts available for individual replacement. Bear in mind, however, that the total cost may be higher than that of a complete new unit. If convenience is your priority, a new vent window is the most practical solution. If originality is particularly important to you, you can choose to restore the original unit, even if this ultimately proves more expensive.
This complete vent window with black frame is supplied ready for installation, including the rubber seal used to install it in the body.
