Product description
The original fuel pump delivers the correct pressure to an original carburetor. If a larger carburetor is installed, the standard fuel pump will in most cases not be able to cope with the supply, resulting in underfilling and engine malfunction. A fuel pump with higher efficiency should be considered, it is only available in electric version.
The pressure supplied by these fuel pumps is in most cases higher than the desired pressure, allowing the float chamber to overflow. Problems that can occur with an overflowing floatation chamber are: poor starting after a short break, constant change in CO content and/or idle speed, and the need to adjust the idle speed regularly.
We therefore recommend that when installing an electric gasoline pump, you also install a pressure regulator. You have a choice of two qualities:
A-quality: This is not only a the most professional pressure regulator but also the most reliable. The only thing it has in common with the B-quality are the swivel connections with 1/8-27 NPT threads.
This pressure regulator is adjustable up to 1.0 bar (14 PSI) and comes with a mounting bracket. In addition, you have the choice of the loose pressure regulator as a version equipped with a high-quality filter system and where you have the option of mounting a pressure gauge. Should you have made the choice for the loose regulator then the possibility remains to mount a pressure gauge between the hoses, for this you have a hose adapter. We recommend you to take this extra. These pressure regulators are suitable for both leaded and unleaded gasoline E5, E10, E15 and E85.
B-quality: With this pressure regulator the gasoline pressure can be regulated in 10 positions from 0 to full open. The regulator has 1/8-27 NPT swivel connections on both the input and output sides.
This regulator is only suitable for unleaded gasoline E5. It is also important that before installing this gasoline pressure regulator, the gasoline pressure is measured. This regulator can handle a maximum pressure of 0.48 bar (7 PSI), at a higher pressure there is a high risk of leakage. Warranty on leakage is therefore excluded, it is impossible to find out afterwards under which pressure the regulator has been standing. Therefore, in addition to the hose barbs, include the hose adapter and pressure gauge. Quality is not comparable to A-quality, so make a well-considered choice.
The quality is not comparable to that of an A-quality product, so you need to make an informed choice.
For all regulators, pressure gauges, nipples and hose adapters can be found under the "Options" tab of the models for which they are recommended.
Note: no pressure reducer can withstand the high pressure of fuel pumps for injection engines.
