Many people wonder whether it's possible to add a lot of power without altering the original appearance of the engine, in other words, to have a performance engine without it being visible from the outside.
This is possible with this standard 37 or 39 mm carburetor. Combined with a faster camshaft and a large-caliber cylinder kit, it's possible to significantly increase power while retaining the original appearance.
This 39 mm carburetor is recommended for displacements from 1776 cc to 1835 cc, while the slightly smaller 37 mm version can do the job up to 1776 cc.
Both carburetors come with a number of additional jets, but if you need a different sized jet, these are also available separately (refer to the "options" tab).
The height adapter supplied enables you to switch from the 37 or 39 mm carburetor to the standard 34 mm intake manifold. If you don't use the adapter, you'll need to mill the manifold to create a smooth transition for correct flow.
We recommend that you use the adapter, if not to ensure correct flow, then to avoid hitting the alternator. This happens if your engine has been converted from a dynamo (DC) to an alternator (AC), as there is then a risk of the accelerator pump jamming against the alternator.
Power test:
Both the 37 and 39 mm versions were tested on a power bench, each using a standard 1600cc engine with the only modification being a spaghetti exhaust system. Both carburetors gave a 5 hp increase in engine power compared to the same setup with a standard 34 mm carburetor.
