As an additional option, you could have retractable side windows installed at your VW dealer instead of fixed rear side windows. By pulling a lever, the rear side windows could now be opened a few centimetres. This option was particularly popular in hot regions.
At the factory, there are no threads in the window rebate for the hinges, these mounting plates take care of that. The hinges are attached to these mounting plates with specific bolts (listed in the Options tab) through the window rebate.
There are many quality differences. The mounting plates mentioned here are made entirely of stainless steel and, in terms of dimensions 100% equal to the original, the thread is tapped exactly straight (which is not the case with many other reproductions).
