Pop-out rear side windows were a factory option for the Beetle that, due to their additional cost, were less popular in our climate. However, in countries where temperatures more often exceeded 15 degrees, they were a highly desirable accessory.
Before new reproduction sets became available, large numbers of used pop-out windows were imported from warmer regions into Europe. Prices increased rapidly and demand eventually exceeded supply. With the reproduction set offered here, this is now a thing of the past and anyone can replace their standard rear side windows with pop-outs.
On Deluxe Beetle models, the necessary mounting provisions are already present. On Mexican-produced and basic 1200 models, holes must be drilled for the hinges and latches. This is not complicated work, but it must be done carefully.
The sets are supplied almost complete. Any additional parts that may be required are listed under the “Options” tab.
Note: First install the windows with the hinges. Once everything closes properly and functions correctly, install the latches last.
