Product description
If your front panel only requires work on the underside, consider restoring only this part, thus preserving as much of the original as possible (which will only increase the value of your classic).
If the underside is to be replaced to a maximum length of 6 cm, it is advisable to replace the cover plate under the front with a model that extends 6 cm beyond the seam. If you're 6 cm short, a 15.5 cm repair panel is available (measured from the underside of the front panel, i.e. from the joint). This repair panel includes a recess for the V-shape. The V-shape should therefore be preserved as far as possible, and repaired with a separate sheet if necessary.
The seam is also available separately. You can use it to restore the bottom edge of your front panel to create a true seam (or use it to imitate a joint).
Front panel underside repair sheet
This repair piece measures 15.5 cm from the underside and has a raised edge at the bottom. In addition, use the free seam folded over this piece and the edge of the cover sheet to create an imitation seam.
Cover panel up to 6 cm above the joint (imitated joint)
This cover sheet is located under the front panel, but has an imitated seam just above it, i.e. an additional 6 cm of sheet that can save the underside of your front panel.
Seam repair strip
This seam repair strip is L-shaped and curved into the curve of the front panel, replacing the existing underside of the front panel during restoration, and can be used to imitate the seam. When restoring the front panel, first weld the edge to the front panel, then punch the edge around the edge of the underlying cover sheet and tack-weld the assembly together. To achieve a seam imitation similar to the original, weld the edge to the edge of the cover plates from above, then push it back around this edge, or pinch edges, imitate a few more spot welds from above and your seam imitation is similar to the original.
All the repair parts listed above can be found on the "other models" tab.
