The cover plate covering the support beam is aligned with the front panel. If you proceed in the original way, connect the lower edge of the front panel to the edge of the cover plate, after which the excess part will be bent around the edge of the cover plate, creating a seam.
With this method, it is important that your front panel is in very good condition. As this is not the case in most cases, you can mount a completely new front panel in which you can make the connection between the front panel and the cover plate in the same way as the original, i.e. with a real seam.
If you wish to retain the original front panel, the underside will probably require special attention. You can choose between, among other things, a cover plate with an imitation of the seam with an extra 6 cm of sheet metal protruding. These 6 cm are intended to save the underside of your existing front panel. It is also possible that the bottom edge of your front panel can no longer be saved, so the curved edge (seam) is also available separately (see options tab). This free edge can also be used to better imitate the seam when using the cover plate with the additional 6 cm of the front panel.
The cover plate mentioned here includes the seam and is identical to the original which was also available from the VW dealer as a spare part. It can be used universally for all years of construction while the Volkswagen Bus left the factory with a difference in the bumper mounts between the pre-1958 and post-1958 models. The bumper support holes are so large that they can be used throughout the years of construction.
