These carters are made of 100% aluminum. Just like the engine crankcases that were used in Type 4 engines. The first thing you notice is the increase in weight compared to an original crankcase. This much stronger aluminum must ensure that the bearing seats no longer run out. Bench tests under extreme conditions have proven that this is actually true. Starting with a crankcase that does not have to undergo revision work is, especially for the motor tuners among us, the perfect solution. The crankcase retains its original dimensions.
The crankcase is of the so-called universal type, this means that it is suitable for both Type 1 and Type 3 engines. The cover plate which seals the oil filler cap of a Type 3 engine is included (but is also available separately, see tab replacement parts).
The engine crankcase is delivered bare except for cylinder threaded rod bushings, so without cylinder threaded rods, camshaft sealing plug, oil pressure plungers springs, locking bolts etc. All crankcases are obviously equipped with large oil channels.
The Bubble Top crankcase has been given more material at the top for extra firmness. This allows a crankshaft with a longer stroke to be used without sacrificing crankcase strength. Bubble Top crankcases are already prepared for a crankshaft up to 82mm, but keep in mind that additional modifications are required.
On the Super Stock and Bubble Top crankcases, the main oil channel is drilled and threaded to allow installation of an oil filter directly after the oil pump (full flow) and possibly an additional oil cooler.
Note: There are a few details that need to be changed on these crankcase. Sometimes it is necessary to adjust the space around the ignition shaft, otherwise it may stop working. If you are using a higher performance camshaft, it may be necessary to remove some material from the oil pump. You will also need to cut a small piece of sheet metal behind the pulley so it will fit properly.
