Product description
The original glove box is made from pressed cardboard. This was not the most durable solution, and over time the material can lose a considerable amount of its strength.
The front bonnet release is also attached to the glove box. If the cardboard tears and the lever comes loose, the front bonnet may no longer be possible to open in the normal way. In the worst case, access then has to be gained in another, often more drastic way.
Volkswagen solved this problem from 11.1983 onwards by changing to a plastic glove box. For these later model years, the plastic glove box listed here is therefore the original replacement.
On earlier model years, the cardboard glove box was still fitted from the factory. If you prefer to move away from this original design, this plastic glove box is a very good and durable solution.
If you prefer to retain the original appearance as much as possible, you can also choose a glove box made from fibre composite material. This version has the appearance of the original cardboard, but is considerably stronger and more durable. You will find this version under the Alternatives tab.
