Product description
The original glove box is made from pressed cardboard. This was not the most durable solution, and over time the material loses a considerable amount of its strength.
The front bonnet release is attached to the glove box. If the cardboard tears and the lever comes loose, the front bonnet may no longer be possible to open in the normal way. You certainly would not be the first to have to look for a more drastic solution to get the bonnet open again. Volkswagen only solved this problem properly in 1983; from then on, the glove boxes were made from plastic as standard.
If you need to replace the original cardboard glove box and want to retain the original appearance as much as possible, the version listed here is an excellent replacement.
The glove box is made from fibre composite material. In terms of appearance, this material comes very close to the original cardboard, but it is considerably stronger and more durable. The inside is also flocked, giving it a soft, fabric-like finish for an extra luxurious appearance.
