Product description
The T25 bus was available with both a 4-speed and a 5-speed gearbox where the 5-speed gearbox differs from the 4-speed. This dust cover can be found on the underside of the 5-speed gearshift. It provides protection for the spring that returns the shifter to the rest position after selecting 1st gear or reverse. If this dust cover is damaged, moisture and dirt can get to this spring mechanism, causing the whole thing to jam and make shifting problematic. On many bushings this dust cover is torn, replace it in time and avoid shifting problems. On the other side is a Teflon cap with a similar function, check it for cracks and replace it immediately.
Sealing cap and guides :
If the shifting problem is not behind this dust cover, there is a good chance that the shift guides on the underside of the shift housing are worn out. If these are worn out it results in excessive play on the shift lever. Should the teflon cap on the other side also need replacement, how you don't have to look long, it too is linked below.
