Product description
Most air-cooled Volkswagens have a fuel filter which is located in the tank or in the fuel tap. Clean this strainer at every major service and replace it when cleaning is no longer an option. If your car is equipped with a fuel tap, then the strainer for cars up to 1955 is located in the fuel tap and then, as in more modern cars, in the tank. The strainer for the cars without a fuel tap is made of plastic, so it hardly digests. The fuel tap models are still made of the original material, though, so you will have to replace them sooner. If you purchased a complete fuel tap (#482) then this strainer is included. When buying a new fuel tap (#486) you will have to order the strainer separately, these are not included.
If you do not feel like checking the strainer every time, remove it and use a filter that you mount between the fuel hose (#1695), which is faster to replace.
The strainer is delivered loose, without any gasket ring between the strainer and the tank or for the cover of the filter housing of the older construction years, do not forget to order these directly (is listed as extra in the overview).
