Product description
An ignition coil gradually loses some of its strength over the years. Our ignition coils deliver a higher secondary voltage, so replacing a coil is not only necessary when it is defective; replacing an old but still functioning coil also provides a stronger spark at the spark plugs.
Note on oil-filled ignition coils:
An oil-filled ignition coil is, as the name suggests, filled with a special insulating and cooling oil. This oil ensures that the internal windings are properly cooled and electrically insulated. Therefore, the mounting position is of great importance.
When an oil-filled ignition coil is mounted upright, the oil is in the correct position inside the housing. The heat generated during operation can be dissipated optimally, and the electrical components remain fully immersed in the oil. This guarantees a stable spark, a longer service life, and prevents internal damage.
If the ignition coil is mounted horizontally or at an angle, the oil can shift. As a result, parts of the internal windings may no longer be fully immersed, leading to insufficient cooling. This can cause overheating, power loss, misfires, and in the worst case, coil failure. Incorrect mounting may also lead to oil leakage.
For this reason, all manufacturers recommend mounting oil-filled ignition coils vertically at all times, even if this was not the original installation position. This ensures reliable operation and maximum service life.
