A counterweighted crankshaft reduces vibrations and crankshaft flex at high engine speeds. It is therefore a very good investment for engines that regularly run above approximately 4500 to 5000 rpm. The engine runs smoother and the crankshaft is subjected to less stress at high rpm, which benefits reliability and service life.

This AA Performance Type 4 crankshaft has a 78 mm stroke and is forged from a single piece of chromoly steel. The crankshaft is counterweighted and features the original 5-hole mounting pattern for the Type 4 flywheel.

This version is intended for connecting rods with the original Type 4 2.0-litre rod journal.

Because of the longer stroke, it must be checked during installation that there is sufficient clearance inside the crankcase and around the connecting rods. The crankcase must be modified where necessary.

For the best result, we recommend balancing the crankshaft together with the flywheel, pressure plate and crankshaft pulley as a complete rotating assembly.

Note: Always clean the oil passages thoroughly before installation. Grinding residue or other production debris may still be present after manufacturing.
