A counterweighted crankshaft reduces vibrations and crankshaft flex at high engine speeds. It is therefore a very good investment for engines that regularly run above approximately 4500 to 5000 rpm. The engine runs smoother and the crankshaft is subjected to less stress at high rpm, which benefits reliability and service life.
This AA Performance Type 4 crankshaft has a 71 mm stroke and is forged from a single piece of 4340 chromoly steel. The crankshaft is counterweighted and features the original 5-hole mounting pattern for the Type 4 flywheel.
The crankshaft is intended for connecting rods with the original Type 4 2.0-litre rod journal. The 71 mm stroke corresponds to the original stroke of the 2.0-litre Type 4 engine.
The crankshaft is factory inspected for cracks and dynamically balanced. For the best result, we recommend balancing the crankshaft together with the flywheel, pressure plate and crankshaft pulley as a complete rotating assembly.
Note: Always clean the oil passages thoroughly before installation. Grinding residue or other production debris may still be present after manufacturing.
