If the battery is still not charging after checking the voltage regulator and carbon brushes, it is advisable to have the dynamo tested on a test bench by a specialised company.
If the test result is negative, repair or overhaul is often more expensive than replacing it with a new unit.
When purchasing a new dynamo, we recommend also installing a new voltage regulator. A faulty regulator can damage the new dynamo, for example by burning out the armature. Such damage is not covered under warranty. Make sure that both the dynamo and the voltage regulator are listed on the same invoice. Only then can you be sure of a properly functioning system and valid warranty.
Attention: The dynamo is supplied from the factory with one cover over the carbon brushes. Do not close off the second opening yourself. This cover is not only for protection, it also ensures that the cooling air from the fan is properly guided through the dynamo. This improves cooling. The other side must always remain open so that hot air can escape. If this opening is sealed, the dynamo can overheat, leading to charging problems.
