The luggage compartment was originally fitted with cardboard trim. If you want to finish the luggage compartment as neatly as the rest of the interior, you can cover it with carpet.

The carpet set is designed to be fitted over the existing cardboard trim, so that the necessary rigidity is retained. You can lay the carpet loosely over the cardboard, but in most cases it is glued to the cardboard. Even if the original cardboard is no longer completely intact, it usually does not need to be replaced. It is only used to provide support. Any protruding or damaged sections can be trimmed away so that only the carpet remains visible after installation.

The carpet sets are not exact copies of the original cardboard trim. With the exception of the Beetle 1302 and 1303, the area containing the wiring is not covered. A plastic protective panel can be used for this section; it is listed under the ‘Options’ tab.
