Product description
Splashing water and dirt that collect between the torsion bar covers subject these covers to considerable wear. Over time, this can result in severe rust damage. On most vehicles, the covers have become so badly corroded that replacement is the only correct solution. Replacement is obviously necessary if they have rusted through, but even with surface rust you should check that the covers are still sufficiently thick and have not become distorted.
It is advisable to order new rubber bushings at the same time. These are available in the original version and in urethane. The old bushings are often deformed due to the pressure from the rear axle and the poor condition of the covers. Reusing them will not improve the handling, which may remain poor.
Always replace both sides and replace not only the covers, but also the inner and outer rubber bushings.
The covers listed here are available not only in the original black finish, but also in a chrome-plated version. See the ‘Alternatives’ tab for the other version.
Please note: Chrome-plated steel covers require regular maintenance to prevent rust. Therefore, no warranty whatsoever is provided against rust formation.
