Product description
The term “draft window” is actually incorrect. Especially with fixed windows this name does not make sense, and with movable windows it suggests that opening them creates drafts, while in reality the opposite is true.
In the 1960s, 70s and 80s, it was common for cars to be equipped with small triangular windows. These could be opened on warm days without causing discomfort to the passengers. If you open a regular window, you often hear passengers say, “there’s a draft, can you close it?”. With these windows, that is not the case and annoying wind noise is also absent. While driving, warm air is drawn out of the vehicle, creating a cooling effect.
Over time, the rubber around the frame becomes hard and brittle. As a result, there are very few Volkswagens left where the original rubber is still in new condition.
Only the most basic versions of the T2 Bay and the T25 have versions where these windows cannot be opened. The corresponding rubbers can be found under the other models tab.
