Product description
In VW Bus models equipped with a 5-speed gearbox, the gearshift is attached to the shift rod by a locking pin. This pin is secured on one side by an axle lock ring and on the other side, inside the gearshift, by an internal Seeger ring or circlip.
The inner Seeger ring is tightened with Seeger ring pliers, then inserted into the gearshift groove. As soon as the pliers are released, the Seeger ring expands, forming a raised edge that prevents the locking pin from coming loose.
The shaft circlip, meanwhile, is clamped around the shaft of the shift rod locking pin, but it also has a second function. This axle lock ring is also used for the parking lock lever on the Bay Window Buses and VW Vanagons equipped with an automatic gearbox.
