With each restoration, the rubber of the trunk lid must be replaced, the climatic influences have probably destroyed these parts. The rubber gasket of the trunk of the Volkswagen Thing is fixed to the body and closed with a rubber flap on the trunk lid. The clamping area is reinforced with metal which loses its strength over time due to rust. Applicable to all years of construction.
