Product description
With every restoration, the trunk lid seal needs replacement, as weather influences have taken their toll over the years.
On the Volkswagen Beetle, the seal is pressed into the channel. Use glycerine for this, it is the best lubricant and does not affect the rubber, to push the seal smoothly into the channel along its entire length. If this does not work, carefully press it into place using a plastic spatula.
On the last series of Beetles produced in Mexico, Volkswagen introduced an improvement. Only below the windshield the seal is still inserted into the channel, the rest is clamped around the lid. This provides a better seal of the trunk area.
The quality and fit of the rubber determine the quality level.
A-quality: identical to the original and the best choice in terms of fit and durability.
B-quality: rubber quality comparable to the original, but with a less precise fit, especially in the upper corners.
C-quality: a budget-friendly option where compromises have been made on rubber quality, the material is stiffer and the lifespan is significantly shorter than A- or B-quality.
