The exhaust of our Volkswagen won't last forever, the exhaust replacement will come to everyone at some point. An exhaust will last longer if the car is used a lot, but if it is used little, it will need to be replaced more quickly. Moisture stored in the silencer is more likely to turn into corrosion in occasional use than in daily use.
The VW Thing has been used in Europe mainly as a military vehicle, with a small number of them appearing on the market as civilian vehicles. In South America, they came out mainly in civilian versions, not so much as an everyday car as a leisure vehicle, a VW response to the many Buggy models that Volkswagen never had a hold on.
This exhaust is intended for the military version which does not use heat exchangers, the heater is an independent cabin heater.
