When overhauling an engine, it's essential that all moving parts are properly lubricated from the outset. This prevents premature wear in the crucial first minutes after starting.
Ordinary motor oil is not suitable for this purpose. It is too thin and does not stay in place, losing its protective effect, especially if the engine is stored for some time after overhaul.
Camshaft assembly paste and engine assembly lubricant are specially designed to prevent this. They adhere to the parts, stay in place and protect the motor during the first few minutes of rotation. This is essential for the bearings, camshaft and cam followers. After the running-in phase (e.g. 15 minutes at 2,000 rpm), these lubricants are eliminated by the engine oil, which then takes over the lubrication. This preparation minimizes wear.
Camshaft assembly paste: contains a very high ZDDP (zinc) content and is specifically designed for cam rollers and camshafts.
Engine assembly lubricant: this P4 technology lubricant is an advanced, highly adhesive product. It is ideal for bearings, pistons and all other moving parts.
In short, like lithium grease, this assembly paste and lubricant should be part of your toolbox when you start an engine overhaul.
