For previous years of Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3 and Buses, the heating is controlled by a central rotary knob. With this system, the cable is more or less wound up and the heating valves are open. It was not a whole that worked well, VW later improved the system by mounting levers.
On the VW Beetle, Karmann Ghia, type 3 and VW Thing, they are located next to the hand brake. With the right lever, the heater can be opened in an adjustable way (the more you open it, the more heat enters the interior) and with the left lever, the heater at the rear passenger's foot is activated.
Volkswagen was ahead of all other car brands, adjustable foot heating for rear passengers is still very rare today. A major disadvantage of this luxury is that air can only be used once and when the rear passenger flaps are open, the amount of air on the windshield is reduced. For faster demisting of your windshield, it is advisable to close these valves and close or press the foot heating outlet at the front.
The greatest adaptation in terms of heating and ventilation is achieved on the VW Buses. For the 1968 model, the entire heating and ventilation system was upgraded and the heating and ventilation controls were placed on the right side of the dashboard, which could be operated by four levers. The red levers for controlling the heater and the blue levers for fresh air (which only work with the outside air supply, a fan was not installed until after 1979).
For almost all models and years of construction, levers and knobs are newly available and are supplied without any mounting hardware, please add to this if necessary (see options tab).
