Product description
These rubber sleeves are particularly useful where the heater cables exit the chassis. They prevent moisture and dirt from getting between the cable and the metal pipe.
If the cable sleeve is missing, you will sooner or later be faced with rusty cables. It's advisable to check the condition of grommets at every major service, and to replace them if hairline cracks are visible.
The mushroom-shaped grommet was also used around the gas pedal cable in the early 1970s.it seals the throttle cable in the front view of the grommet running through the fan shroud.
When fitting around the throttle cable, use glycerine as a lubricant to enable the thickened part to be pressed through the rubber. You can also cut the grommet lengthwise, which was suggested to the Volkswagen dealer at the time to speed up the work, although this option was not offered by the factory.
