Cooling air leaks should be avoided as much as possible, which is why Volkswagen has made every effort to ensure that cooling air cannot escape anywhere.
The throttle cable enters the engine compartment through the rear panel and is guided by a metal tube through the fan shroud to the carburetor. at the front of the fan shroud, the tube passes through a rubber in a fitted hole and at the rear of the engine, it is an elongated slot, which is where the air is drawn in.this is where the cooling air can escape, which is solved with a rubber seal.
The front grommet and the rear sealing rubber are no longer present on many engines. It is precisely these details that you should pay attention to when building the engine, and these rubbers should definitely not be missing.
