Product description
On the first 1300 cc Type 1 engines, the throttle cable is attached to the throttle with a completely different connection than on all other engines. These engines can be recognized by the carburetor, i.e. a Solex 30 PICT-1 without accelerator return spring.
If your throttle cable is now fixed with the connector used for all other engines ( #02143 ) your throttle cable is not in line with the throttle cable duct in your fanshroud, or, in other words, it rubs against the throttle cable duct every time.
Sooner or later the throttle cable will wear out, that's why Volkswagen solved this problem with the first 1300 cc engines by fixing the cable not between the two throttle arms, but on the left side of the throttle valve, so that the cable is guided in a straight line into the fanshroud.
First, you determine where the cable connector should be, then attach the connector and push it through the holes in the throttle lever. Finally, you place the circlip in the recess of the connector and everything is secured.
Sometimes the throttle cable may not be aligned with the opening in the fanshroud, which can happen when a reproduction fanshroud or reproduction intake manifold is used or when it is replaced by a model intended for another engine, so this connector can also help.
You can also use the reverse connector, the cable is on the right side of the throttle, but keep in mind that you have to adjust the intake manifold flange to avoid touching it.
This connector, including pin and washer, is made of stainless steel. The quality is better than the original, try to find an original stainless steel connector.
