Most of the Volkswagen Buses were not spared at back in the day, they were real work horses. Volkswagen has always been a pioneer in creating a sober but very solid Bus, which many professionals have welcomed.
Nevertheless, the bumpers had to endure a lot, they often had to take a hit, straight bumper support brackets are more the exception than the regularity.
If your bumper brackets are still in good condition, rust is the reason why reuse is no longer an option.
