In many cases, connecting rods cannot be put back in place immediately and must undergo a complete overhaul. It is well known that many people reassemble connecting rods without measuring or machining them and only later discover that the engine life is very disappointing.
The overhaul of connecting rods can only be done with the right tools, which most garages do not have. This work is often entrusted to a specialised overhaul company. Before you take this step it is advisable to ask about the costs, which can be so high that a new set of connecting rods is more advantageous.
Obviously, these new standard connecting rods must also be measured, see if the weight difference between them is within tolerances and see if the piston pin fits with slight thumb pressure.
