The spring-loaded oil pressure plunger regulates the pressure in your Volkswagen engine. When the engine is cold, it maintains a high pressure for rapid lubrication; when the engine is hot, it opens a bypass to prevent overpressure. This keeps the engine well lubricated and protected.
Original plungers wear out over time, and can jam or lose their function. This new plunger is made from wear-resistant stainless steel (SS), which is more resistant to wear, dirt, corrosion and deformation. This guarantees constant operation and extends the life of your engine.
To remove the plunger from the crankcase without damaging it, a special tool is available for this purpose, which should be ordered directly (see 'Options' tab).
Note: This is a standard-sized plunger (no oversizing). Carefully measure your old piston to ensure that the crankcase has not been previously modified or drilled, which could have led to the installation of an oversized piston.
