Product description
Adequate oil pressure is essential for any engine. Oil not only provides lubrication, it also helps regulate engine temperature. The oil pump generates pressure, but this must remain within safe limits. The oil pressure spring(s) take care of this.
Oil pressure springs act as pressure-regulating valves and wear out over time. Check them carefully and compare them with the original VW specifications:
Bottom of crankcase: 11.1 kg at 23.4 mm
Side of crankcase: 3.0 kg at 21 mm
If they fall outside these values, which will be the case for most engines, they should be replaced.
