Product description
The dipstick for the engines listed above under the "Fits:" tab is not inserted directly into the crankcase (as was the case with early air-cooled engines), as the distance to be covered is too great for this
In these engines, a fixed tube is inserted into the crankcase, through which a flexible gauge passes. To prevent leakage, this tube is sealed into the crankcase with an O-ring.
This is not a simple rubber ring, but a specially designed O-ring. So don't be tempted to buy a universal rubber ring (often black in color) that won't withstand prolonged exposure to heat. If you install a standard rubber ring, you're guaranteed a short-term leak in any case.
This O-ring is made from HSN (highly saturated nitrile rubber) and is therefore 100% identical to the original, including the specific green color. This green color has been applied to avoid confusion and to identify the rubber composition.
