With the engine at the rear and air cooling, the heating system must travel a long distance to reach the driver. It goes without saying that air circulation should be restricted as little as possible, if the heat ducts, which are hidden in the heater channels, have rusty holes, then the heat at the dashboard and legs will decrease considerably.
Anyone who still claims that our air-cooled Volkswagen does not have a good heater on board should check their heating system. If the system is in perfect condition, our air-cooled Volkswagen has a very good heating system that many other cars with a water-cooled engine from the same construction period will be jealous.
The heating channels of our Volkswagen Type 3 are like the Volkswagen Beetles a weak point, the outer sheet metal is the biggest concern, but also the heat channels can be severely affected. For the Volkswagen Type 3, there is not much sheet metal available, but fortunately, the heater channels are available in a high quality reproduction, which will take you many hours of restoration work. The only thing you'll have to transfer is the support under the back seat, but it's almost never been affected to such an extent that reuse is impossible.
