One might wonder why it is enough to replace just one headlight housing and not the whole part? The answer is simple, there is no such thing as a complete part for every Volkswagen and if there is, many people want to keep the original and restore the old part.
The headlight housings for a Volkswagen Bus from 8/1967 to 7/1979 have two holes, of which the one just behind the mounting bracket of the headlight unit or headlight ring is retained for the wire feed. You will have to close the other hole (by welding on a plate).
