Product description
With the model change from Splitscreen to Baywindow bus, the filling of the brake fluid reservoir was changed, from directly on the master brake cylinder to a separate filling reservoir which could be refilled or changed from the cab. This filling reservoir is connected to the closed reservoir on the master cylinder by means of a preformed plastic hose. For mounting, rubber socks pressed into the hose are used in addition to hose clamps. When mounted on the reservoir, the seal is created by the compression of the socks between the hose and the reservoir connections (which are locked with a hose clamp). As the rubber socks dry out, the seal deteriorates, which can lead to leakage, and since brake fluid is a very aggressive substance, we must prevent this by regularly checking the hose connection and replacing the socks (rubbers) if necessary.
Brake fluid hose
If the plastic hose starts to show hairline cracks it is time to replace it, sooner or later this will cause leakage with all its unpleasant consequences. This hose is currently only available for models from August 1972 to July 1979, for older models it is necessary to find a used hose that is still in good condition. This hose comes with the above mounting rubbers (socks).
