Product description
The engine compartment of air-cooled Volkswagens is hermetically sealed, preventing the hot used cooling air from being drawn in again.
The sheet metal panels surrounding the engine fit tightly against the bodywork, with a rubber seal mounted between the engine and the body.
These body panels are exposed to harsh conditions. Splashing water combined with engine heat significantly accelerates corrosion. If little attention was paid to rust prevention in the past, serious rust damage with holes in the sheet metal will eventually occur. It is also common for a previous owner to have installed a different engine, where parts of the sheet metal were in the way and therefore removed.
No worries, replacement left and right engine compartment panels are also available for the T2 Bay. These panels replace the original sheet metal one-to-one. All you need to do is drill out the spot welds, remove the old sheet metal and weld in the new panel.
The panels are already fitted with the guide profile for the engine rubber seal. This rubber seal can also be replaced separately if required, see the replacement parts tab for more information.
