Many classic Volkswagens require extra attention to the floor pans during restoration. Years of use, moisture and dirt often cause severe corrosion, and in many cases the floor pans have rusted through completely.
If the damage is limited, local repairs may be sufficient. However, for a durable, high-quality restoration, we recommend drilling out the original spot welds and replacing the complete floor pan as a whole. This preserves the body structure exactly as Volkswagen originally designed it.
Although the outer dimensions of the floor pans have hardly changed over the years, there are differences in the pressed profiles. These details are especially important for an authentic restoration. Make sure you choose the correct version that matches the production year of your Volkswagen.
