Product description
Coolant leaks are often caused by porous hoses, but on older Volkswagens the metal coolant pipes can also be affected by corrosion. This is a known issue, especially on waterboxer engines.
The pipe listed here runs between the oil cooler and the thermostat. After many years of use, the original steel pipe can rust on both the outside and inside, eventually causing leaks.
This replacement pipe is made from stainless steel. This virtually eliminates rust formation and considerably extends its service life.
When replacing this pipe, it is advisable to carefully inspect the connected coolant hoses as well. If they have become hardened, porous or swollen, replace them at the same time. Do not forget the hose clamps either; old clamps can lose their clamping force over time and may therefore no longer seal properly.
