Most of the braking system consists of metal hoses that carry brake fluid from the master cylinder to the wheel brake cylinders or calipers.
In the case of moving parts or to facilitate disassembly, the brake line is interrupted by a brake hose that should be replaced when installing new brake lines.
Originally, only steel tubes were used to avoid expansion due to fluid pressure, the use of copper tubes is mainly used to repair and therefore replace a single brake line.
Brake lines must be in good condition, which is why rust formation is often an issue for periodic inspection.
All brake pipe sets are identical to the original, as well as the dark green anti-corrosion layer.
The tubes are delivered in a straight state, they must be bent into the right shape, which can be done manually. For sharp curves, the use of a special tool is essential, with which you can easily shape the tube without damage, look for this tool under the options tab. In order to facilitate transport, brake lines that are too long are delivered curved and can be shaped by hand.
Note: The pipes are equipped with a galvanized corrosion protection treatment, no further treatment is required. Additional treatment with paint or other coating may be refused by the inspector during the periodic inspection.
For some cars, it is important to check which brake system has been fitted and/or which rear axle suspension has been applied. In the case of an independent wheel suspension, it is also important for some models if the vehicle is equipped with drum or disc brakes. If there is no additional notification, the assembly is suitable for left hand driving (LHD) and right hand (RHD) driving.
The composition of the kits is based on the assumption that the car is original and that no modifications have been made, such as the change from a single circuit to a dual circuit braking system, from drum brakes to disc brakes, etc. If this is the case, you may have to combine several kits.
Remarks :
Models equipped with a single-circuit braking system are equipped with a reservoir of brake fluid without a partition and a hose for the brake master cylinder. With a dual circuit braking system, the tank is divided into two parts for the front and rear brakes with two hoses for the master cylinder.
You'll recognise the rear swing axle models by the fixed tubes between the gearbox and the rear axle, models with independent suspension (IRS) are equipped with homocinets intermediate axles on both sides.
