Jos puristussuhdetta nostetaan sylinterinpäitä työstämällä, alkuperäisistä napaisutangoista tulee liian pitkiä. Tämän seurauksena venttiilejä ei enää säädetä oikein, eivätkä keinuvivun säätöpultit ole oikeassa asennossa venttiilin varteen.
Venttiiligeometria voidaan säätää uudelleen oikein käyttämällä näitä säätölevyjä tai -levyjä, ja niitä suositellaan myös, kun käytetään venttiilinvarren korkkeja. Tarvitaan myös, kun venttiilien säätöruuvit kootaan painekuuloilla tai painejaloilla (ilmoitettu liitännäisosat-välilehdellä), jotta ne ovat tasan polttoainekanavan kanssa.
Ne asennetaan keinuvivun akselin alle, ja niitä on saatavana eri paksuisia.
