Jos aiot kunnostaa tai virittää moottorin itse, tämä mittaustyökalu on välttämätön. Se mittaa männän vapaan korkeuden sylinterin reunaan nähden, kun mäntä on yläkuolokohdassa. Tätä mittausta käytetään männän yläpuolella olevan tilan tilavuuden laskemiseen, mikä on olennaista moottorin puristussuhteen määrittämiseksi.
