If you have a Type 3 with a fuel-injected engine or a T25 with a 1900cc fuel-injected engine with engine code DH, you will notice when fitting a new fuel filter that the 12 mm connection does not match the original 8 mm connection.
The fuel filter was originally fitted with an 8 mm connection at both ends. Volkswagen later replaced this filter with a version featuring one 8 mm and one 12 mm connection, allowing it to be used on a wider range of engines.
This reducer hose is required to install the replacement filter on the engines mentioned. The hose has an internal diameter of 7 mm at one end and 11 mm at the other. These dimensions are deliberately 1 mm smaller than the connections, ensuring that the hose grips them securely.
Despite the tight fit, the reducer hose must always be secured with hose clamps. These are not included and are listed under the ‘Options’ tab.
