Product description
If the crank continues to turn while the windows are being reassembled, you can assume that the mechanism's gearing has worn to the point where it no longer gets a grip. Repair is not possible: the entire window winding mechanism must be replaced.
During assembly, be sure to thoroughly lubricate the spring or gear with lithium grease. The mechanism needs to be well lubricated to operate smoothly and quietly. Many defective window-lift mechanisms have been dry-fitted, which considerably accelerates wear. If you dry-fit the mechanism, you can almost guarantee that it won't last long.
As electric window regulators are only available for the VW Vanagon, the windows are operated by cables. This not only facilitates installation, but also guarantees smoother operation than the manual version with spring mechanism. These systems are supplied complete with motor. As soon as the mechanism or motor starts to show defects, you replace the whole unit in one go.
All mechanisms are supplied without a control frame. In the event of rust problems, it is advisable to order this part directly (see associated parts tab).
